Moms and dads all over the world are serving banana splits for dinner in the sweetest of tributes to a dying child and the mother who's determined to find the joy in his last days.

Two weeks ago, doctors told Erik and Diane Roberts that nothing more could be done to save their 21-month-old son, Ryan, who was born with Down syndrome and a heart defect.

Our Deepest Fear
By Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were all meant to shine, as children do.

Day 158 Question 158:

As a society, how do we reduce the amount of bullying the seems to be occurring more and more often?

A recent news story caught my attention and in mere moments I had a wide array of emotions rushing through my body.  I am going to attach the 2 videos that have streamed across the Internet for those of you that have not heard about this story or seen the videos.

One of the biggest misconceptions about meditation is that it's for people who are troubled, or are seeking something in their lives.  Although this may be true, I want to ensure people know that meditation can be for anyone, and opens a door to more fully experience life. It brings us above the day-to-day stresses and worries when one might say 'I just feel kind of numb in my life.

Great Sufi Master, Hafiz, (1320-1389) and Rumi (about 100 years earlier) are known as "realized souls." The Rumi quote in Namaste Consulting Inc last week's blog I'd love to tell you. . .. is a theme we sometimes hear when diagnosed with cancer, or someone we love dies. It's the softer version of, "It's all good" when things appear anything but.

Reblogged from Anderson Cooper 360:

The father of a boy who harassed Karen Klein says his son is receiving death threats. He calls the incident "life-changing" for his family and doesn't believe his son will behave like that again.

When we live in a world where we play video games where you get extra points for killing hookers and pedestrians, you will have this basest form of behavior and conduct. If we don't start learning to practice deep listening, compassionate speech, and interconnectedness, we will continue to have child abuse, war, addiction, etc. I would like to send these children to workshops on nonviolent communication, give them community service, and group work to do. I think that would be more beneficial than being arrested. My heart aches for this woman. And it aches for this group of children who are misguided and have not been well parented. How much longer are we going to keep making excuses?

Ryokan, a Zen master, lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening a thief visited the hut only to discover there was nothing in it to steal.

Ryokan returned and caught him. “You may have come a long way to visit me,” he told the prowler, “and you should not return empty-handed.

The answer is to be so quiet that the questions stop. From the lake of silence, answers resound as echoes from the primal text. From a relaxed state of being, the seminal gestates. We are in tune with the resonant knowledge, the platonic wisdoms that murmur from the earliest pools. In being stillness, instinct calmly guides......Carolyn Mary Kleefeld

Nietzsche was the one who did the job for me. At a certain moment in his life, the idea came to him of what he called 'the love of your fate.' Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens, you say, 'This is what I need.' It may look like a wreck, but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge.
